Steak Fried Rice

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup White rice rinsed
  • 2 tbsp Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 lb Sirloin steaks
  • 1/2 Carrots peeled and chopped small
  • 1 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp Fresh ginger minced
  • 2 cups Snow peas sliced
  • 1 tsp Rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup Reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 4 Scallions chopped

Instructions

  • Rinse the rice well with cold water and drain. Cook the rice according to the directions on the package. Once the rice is cooked drain any excess water if needed.
  • Heat half of the olive oil in a nonstick pan over medium heat. Season the steak on both sides with salt and pepper. Cook the steak in the pan on both sides until your desired temperature is reached using a thermometer. Once cooked set aside to rest.
  • In the same pan heat the remaining oil on medium high heat. Add the carrots, garlic, and ginger and cook, stirring often, about 3 to 4 minutes. Add the snow peas and saute for 2 to 3 minutes, then add the cooked rice, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and soy sauce. Stir well. Sauté until the liquid evaporates.
  • Remove from heat. Taste and adjust the seasonings by adding more salt if needed.
  • Slice the steak against the grain and serve with fried rice. Garnish with scallions.

Notes

Steak Internal Temperatures:
  • Rare: 115 - 120 degrees F
  • Medium Rare: 125 - 130 degrees F
  • Medium: 135 - 140 degrees F
  • Medium Well: 145 - 150 degrees F
  • Well Done: 160 degrees F
