Ingredients
Salted Caramel Honeycomb Waffles
- ½ cup Honeycomb cereal roughly crushed
- 2 Eggs
- ½ cup Milk
- ⅛ tsp Ground cinnamon
- ⅛ tsp Flaky sea salt divided (such as Maldon)
- 4 Waffles Frozen or fresh thawed if frozen
- 2 TBSP Unsalted butter
- ⅓ cup Dulce de leche to serve (or caramel with a touch of cream)
- ⅓ cup Sour cream to serve
Milk
- 16 oz Milk
Instructions
- Place the honeycomb cereal in a sealable plastic bag and lightly crush using a heavy pot or rolling pin. Set aside.
- To make the waffle French toast, place eggs, milk, cinnamon and a pinch of salt flakes in a deep tray or pie dish and whisk to combine.
- In batches, add waffles and stand for 5 seconds each side to soak (oversoaking will cause waffles to break up). Allow excess to drip off. Set aside on a plate.
- Heat a pat of butter in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the soaked waffles and cook for 2 minutes each side or until a deeper golden.
- Place waffles on serving plates. Spread waffles with dulce de leche and top with sour cream. Scatter with crushed honeycomb cereal and a pinch of salt flakes.
- Pour milk into glasses.
- Enjoy the waffles with a glass of milk on the side.
