French Toast Sticks

Ingredients

  • 1 Egg beaten
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1/2 TBSP Brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 4 TBSP Maple syrup or more if desired
  • 8 sticks Texas toast substitute any thick cut bread of your choice. Cut into about 3 inch long by 1 inch wide sticks, about 4 to 5 per serving
  • 2 TBSP Butter as needed
  • 2 tsp Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup Raspberries
  • 16 oz Milk cold

Instructions

  • In a shallow bowl, beat the egg with a whisk or fork. Then add in the milk, brown sugar, vanilla and cinnamon, and beat again.
  • Set a small saucepan over low heat and pour in the syrup to warm.
  • Set a non-stick pan or griddle over medium-low heat. While the pan heats, prep the French toast sticks.
  • Dip the bread in the egg mixture turning to coat all sides evenly until the sticks are moistened but not soggy.
  • Lightly grease the non-stick pan or griddle with butter and oil as needed. Cook the coated bread until golden brown on all sides.
  • To serve: Enjoy the French toast with warm syrup, raspberries and a glass of milk.
