Ingredients

APPLE FILLING

  • 3 Granny Smith Apples peeled and sliced, core removed
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 3 tbsp Brown sugar
  • Pinch Salt
  • 2 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon

TOPPING

  • 3/4 cup All-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp Brown sugar loosely packed
  • 1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp Butter melted, or more if needed

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven broiler on low.
  • In an omelet pan or small skillet melt the butter. Add in the apples, brown sugar, salt, lemon juice and cinnamon. Bring to a simmer and cook until the apples start to soften and the liquid is a deep golden brown, about 10 - 15 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Place the topping ingredients in a bowl. Mix until clumps form, like wet sand. (add more melted butter if needed) Spread over the apples, crumbling with fingers if required to get that crumbly topping.
  • Place underneath the broiler until the topping is a dark golden brown. Remove and set aside to cool for about 15 to 20 minutes before serving.
