Ingredients

  • 16 oz Ahi tuna yellowfin tuna steaks
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Lime juice
  • 2 tbsp Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3 tbsp Scallions chopped
  • 4 slices french bread cut on a diagonal 1/2 inch thick

Instructions

  • Pat the ahi tuna steaks dry with a paper towel.
  • Mix soy sauce, lime juice, and black pepper in a bowl. Pour over the ahi tuna steaks and coat completely. Allow them to sit in the liquid until you are ready to cook them.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush sliced french bread with olive oil. Place on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
  • Heat a non-stick pan on medium-high heat until very hot.
  • Add the olive oil to the hot pan. Sear the tuna for 1 minute on each side for rare; 2 minutes on each side for medium-rare; or 3 minutes on each side for medium. (If desiring medium-well or well-done sear the outside of the tuna in the pan 1 minute per each side and finish in a 350-degree oven on a baking sheet for 5 - 6 minutes so the tuna does not burn)
  • Remove the tuna from the pan to a cutting board and allow to rest for 3 minutes. Slice into 1/2 inch slices and garnish with green onions. Serve with crostini.
