Heat a pot on medium high heat. Add the beef and break up into smaller pieces with a wooden spoon. Turn the heat down to medium and add in the onion, carrot, celery, and garlic; saute for 5 minutes.
Stir in the wine, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and thyme; and bring to a simmer.
Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the directions on the package. When the pasta is finished drain well.
Toss the pasta in the sauce and serve. Garnish with grated parmesan cheese.
