Ingredients
Mac and Cheese
- 1.5 cups Broccoli chopped into bite sized florets
- 6 oz Andouille sausage sliced
- 4 oz Cavatappi pasta (or your choice of pasta)
- 1 TBSP Butter
- 1 TBSP All-purpose flour
- 1 cup Milk
- 1/2 cup White cheddar cheese shredded
- Salt
- Black pepper
- 2 hunks French baguette
Sweet Tea
- 24 oz Sweet tea cold
Instructions
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Blanch the broccoli until tender. Then drain well and set aside.
- Cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain well.
- Meanwhile, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and stir for about 1 minute until bubbly and golden brown.
- Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer while stirring occasionally. Once the sauce starts to thicken, add in the cheese and whisk until smooth with no lumps. The sauce should be thick and creamy.
- Heat a nonstick pan on medium heat. Once hot, saute the sausage until nicely browned and cooked through.
- Toast the bread if desired.
- Stir in the pasta until it is fully coated with the cheese sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving. Stir in the broccoli and sausage.
- Portion and enjoy with bread and sweet tea.
