Roast Beef Panini

Ingredients

  • Nonstick spray
  • 12 oz Deli roast beef sliced thin
  • 8 slices Sourdough bread
  • 4 slices Provolone cheese
  • 2 cups Baby spinach
  • 1/2 cup Red onion sliced thin
  • 2 oz Potato chips
  • 4 Pickle spears

Au jus

  • 1.5 cups Beef broth
  • 1 tsp Fresh thyme chopped
  • 1 tsp Kitchen Bouquet Browning and Seasoning Sauce or more if needed to taste
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch dissolved in an equal amount of water

Instructions

  • Preheat a panini style grill. Lightly grease with nonstick spray.
  • Add the broth, thyme, and kitchen bouquet to a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer. Add the cornstarch mixture a little at a time to lightly thicken the liquid (add more cornstarch if needed so the consistency is not too thin or watery but not as thick as a gravy). Season with salt and pepper to taste. Continue to simmer to build flavor.
  • Dip the roast beef in the simmering liquid to coat. Layer the bread with cheese, spinach, onion, and beef.
  • Cook the sandwich on the panini grill until golden brown on both sides and the cheese has melted.
  • Cut the sandwich in half and serve with a side of au jus, chips, and pickles.
