Ingredients
Greek Gyros
- 8 oz Ground beef or lamb
- 2 cloves Garlic minced
- 1 tsp Dried oregano
- ½ tsp Ground cumin
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 2 Pita bread
- 1 cup Tomatoes diced
- 1 cup Cucumbers diced
- ½ cup Red onion sliced
- ½ cup Feta cheese crumbled
- ½ cup Tzatziki sauce
Pita Chips and Hummus
- 4 oz Pita chips
- 1 cup Hummus
Coconut water
- 24 oz Coconut water cold
Instructions
- Prep Ingredients: In a bowl, combine the beef, minced garlic, dried oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Preheat the oven broiler on low.
- Place the meat mixture onto a foil lined baking sheet and flatten evenly to about ½ inch thick.
- Broil until cooked thru to an internal temperature of 155F (70C). Then set aside for 3 minutes before slicing into strips.
- Assemble Gyros: Warm the pita bread rounds. Lay out each pita and layer with cooked beef, diced tomatoes, diced cucumbers, sliced red onions, crumbled feta cheese, and a drizzle of tzatziki sauce.
- Serve: Place the assembled gyros on plates, serve with pita chips and hummus, and pour glasses of cold coconut water. Enjoy your delicious meal!
