Ingredients
Apple cinnamon oatmeal:
- 1 cup Old-fashioned oats
- 2 cups Milk (of your choice)
- 1 Apple large, peeled cored and diced
- 2 TBSP Honey or maple syrup
- 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
- pinch Salt
Cappuccino:
- Espresso or strong coffee
- 1/2 cup Milk (of your choice)
- Cocoa powder or cinnamon (for garnish optional)
Figs
- 4 Fresh figs quartered
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients for oats. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes or until the oats are tender and the mixture has thickened. If the oatmeal becomes too thick, you can add a little more milk to reach your desired consistency. Remove from heat.
- While the oatmeal is cooking, brew a strong cup of espresso or coffee. Froth the milk using a frother or by heating it gently and whisking vigorously until frothy.
- Pour the hot oatmeal into a bowl.
- Pour the hot espresso or coffee into a cup. Top the cup with frothed milk, creating a layer of creamy foam. (Cappuccino is usually equal parts coffee, hot milk, and foam.)
- Garnish the oatmeal with sliced fresh figs.
- Sprinkle a little cocoa powder or cinnamon on top of the cappuccino for a decorative touch.
- Serve the apple cinnamon oatmeal alongside the frothy cappuccino.
