Creamy Vanilla Porridge with Brown Sugar Apples
- 4 cups Water
- 2 cups Rolled oats
- ¼ tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1 TBSP Unsalted butter
- 1 medium Apple peeled, cored, and diced
- 1 TBSP Brown sugar
- ¼ tsp Cinnamon optional
Fruit
- 1 cup Fresh fruit e.g. berries, banana slices, or orange segments
Coffee
- Coffee
- Your choice of creamer
- Your choice of sweetener
Instructions
- Prepare the ingredients as instructed above.
- Cook the porridge: In a pot, bring water to a boil. Cook the oats according to the directions on the package. Stir occasionally until creamy. Then stir in vanilla extract.
- Sauté the apples: While the porridge is cooking, heat butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add diced apple, brown sugar, and cinnamon (if using). Cook until the apples are tender and caramelized.
- Brew and prepare the coffee to your liking.
- Serve porridge topped with warm brown sugar apples, fresh fruit and coffee. Enjoy a grounding and nurturing breakfast.
