Ingredients

Hibiscus Iced Tea

  • 4 cups Water
  • 2 Hibiscus tea bags (or 2 tsp loose hibiscus tea)
  • 1-2 TBSP Honey or Sugar (adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes

Ham and Swiss Sandwich

  • 4 slices Whole wheat bread
  • 2 TBSP Mayonnaise
  • 4 leaves Romaine lettuce
  • 4 slices Tomato
  • 6 oz Deli ham
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 oz Sour cream cheddar potato chips Ruffles or similar
  • 2 Pickle spears

Instructions

  • Prepare Hibiscus Iced Tea: Bring the water to a simmer (about 190°F / 88°C), then remove from the heat. Steep the tea bags (or loose tea) in the water for 10 minutes. After steeping, refrigerate the tea to cool.
  • Prepare Sandwich Ingredients: While the tea is cooling, prepare the sandwich ingredients. Optionally, toast the bread if desired.
  • Assemble Sandwich: Spread mayo on each slice of bread. Layer with lettuce, tomato, ham, and Swiss cheese. Top with the second slice of bread. Cut the sandwich in half.
  • Serve: Pour the chilled hibiscus tea over ice. Serve the sandwich with cheddar chips and pickle spears alongside the iced tea.
