Ingredients
Greek Meatballs
- 4 oz Ground beef
- 4 oz Ground lamb
- 1/4 cup Seasoned bread crumbs
- 2 TBSP Red onion finely chopped
- 1 clove Garlic minced
- 1/2 Egg beaten
- 1/2 tsp Dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp Ground cumin
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 1 TBSP Extra-virgin olive oil for cooking
- 2 Pita bread
Tzatziki Sauce
- 1/4 Cucumber grated and drained
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/2 clove Garlic minced
- 1/2 TBSP Fresh dill chopped
- 1/2 TBSP Extra-virgin olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Tomato Slices, Feta, and Olives
- 1 Tomato sliced
- 2 TBSP Extra-virgin olive oil
- 1/2 tsp Dried oregano
- Salt to taste
- 2 oz Feta cheese block in brine
- 1/2 cup Greek olives
Soda
- 24 oz Your favorite soda cold
- Ice cubes optional
Instructions
- Prep all ingredients per instructions above.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Greek Meatballs: In a bowl, combine ground beef, ground lamb, breadcrumbs, red onion, minced garlic, beaten egg, oregano, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides.
- Transfer the meatballs to a baking sheet and finish cooking in the preheated oven for about 10 - 12 minutes or until cooked through.
- Tzatziki Sauce: Grate the cucumber and drain excess liquid.
- In a bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated and drained cucumber, minced garlic, chopped fresh dill, olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
- Refrigerate the tzatziki sauce until ready to serve.
- Arrange tomato slices on a serving plate. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with dried oregano, and add a pinch of salt.
- Prepare Pita Bread: Warm the pita bread in the oven or on a skillet.
- Place meatballs on plates. Spoon tzatziki sauce over the meatballs. Serve with tomato slices, chunks of feta cheese, Greek olives, and pita bread on the side. Enjoy with a soda, over ice if desired.
