Ingredients

Greek Meatballs

  • 4 oz Ground beef
  • 4 oz Ground lamb
  • 1/4 cup Seasoned bread crumbs
  • 2 TBSP Red onion finely chopped
  • 1 clove Garlic minced
  • 1/2 Egg beaten
  • 1/2 tsp Dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp Ground cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1 TBSP Extra-virgin olive oil for cooking
  • 2 Pita bread

Tzatziki Sauce

  • 1/4 Cucumber grated and drained
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 clove Garlic minced
  • 1/2 TBSP Fresh dill chopped
  • 1/2 TBSP Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Tomato Slices, Feta, and Olives

  • 1 Tomato sliced
  • 2 TBSP Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp Dried oregano
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 oz Feta cheese block in brine
  • 1/2 cup Greek olives

Soda

  • 24 oz Your favorite soda cold
  • Ice cubes optional

Instructions

  • Prep all ingredients per instructions above.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Greek Meatballs: In a bowl, combine ground beef, ground lamb, breadcrumbs, red onion, minced garlic, beaten egg, oregano, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
  • Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides.
  • Transfer the meatballs to a baking sheet and finish cooking in the preheated oven for about 10 - 12 minutes or until cooked through.
  • Tzatziki Sauce: Grate the cucumber and drain excess liquid.
  • In a bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated and drained cucumber, minced garlic, chopped fresh dill, olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
  • Refrigerate the tzatziki sauce until ready to serve.
  • Arrange tomato slices on a serving plate. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with dried oregano, and add a pinch of salt.
  • Prepare Pita Bread: Warm the pita bread in the oven or on a skillet.
  • Place meatballs on plates. Spoon tzatziki sauce over the meatballs. Serve with tomato slices, chunks of feta cheese, Greek olives, and pita bread on the side. Enjoy with a soda, over ice if desired.
