Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Onion diced
  • 2 tbsp Celery diced
  • 2 tbsp Carrots diced
  • 1 clove Garlic minced
  • 1 slices Sourdough bread crust removed and chopped small
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • 6 oz Ground turkey
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce use more to taste as needed
  • 2 Crusty bread toasted

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup Chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp Yellow mustard
  • 1/4 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Tomato paste

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  • Preheat a saute pan on medium heat. Once hot, add the oil. Saute the onion, celery, carrot, and garlic until they start to soften. Then remove from the heat.
  • Soak the bread in the milk for 2 to 3 minutes. Add in the turkey, Worcestershire sauce, sauteed vegetables, and season well with salt and pepper. Mix well with your hands. Place the mixture onto a foil lined baking sheet and form into an even loaf (or use a loaf pan).
  • Cook in the oven to an internal temperature of 160 degrees using a thermometer. Then set aside to rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing.
  • For the sauce: Heat a saucepan on medium heat. Add the broth, mustard, paprika, and tomato paste. Slowly simmer until the sauce reduces and thickens to a creamy consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Spoon the sauce over the meatloaf, serve with bread.
