Ingredients
- 1 slices Sourdough bread crust removed and chopped small
- 2 tbsp Milk
- 1/2 lb Ground beef
- 1/2 tbsp Steak seasoning montreal steak seasoning or comparable brand
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce use more to taste as needed
- 2 Dinner rolls warmed in the oven for 3 to 5 minutes right before serving if desired
Sauce
- 1 tsp Extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 tbsp Red onion minced
- 2 cloves Garlic minced
- 1/2 tbsp Tomato paste
- 1/2 cup Beef broth
- 1 tsp Fresh thyme stems removed, plus sprigs for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
- Soak the bread in the milk for 2 to 3 minutes. Add in the beef, seasoning, and worchestershire sauce. Mix well with your hands. Place the mixture onto a foil lined baking sheet and form into an even loaf (or use a loaf pan).
- Cook in the oven to an internal temperature of 150 degrees using a thermometer. Then set aside to rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing.
- For the sauce: Heat a nonstick pan on medium heat. Add the oil, onion, and garlic. Saute until golden brown. Turn down the heat to medium low. Add the tomato paste, broth, and thyme. Slowly simmer until the sauce reduces and thickens to a creamy consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Spoon the sauce over the meatloaf, serve with bread. Garnish with thyme.
