  • 2 tbsp Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic whole
  • 28 oz Canned diced tomato
  • 1/4 cup Fresh basil

Instructions

  • Heat the olive oil in a pot over low-medium heat. Add the garlic and cook until all sides are golden brown. Add the tomatoes and season with salt and pepper. Partially cover with a lid, and bring to a simmer for about 45 minutes.
  • Taste to see if the acidity of the tomatoes have been cooked out and adjust the seasoning with salt to taste.
  • Once done, remove from heat and add in the basil. Use an immersion blender or standup blender to blend the sauce until smooth.
  • **Can be frozen in a tightly sealed container. Make a double batch so you have some for future use.

Notes

Pro Tip: Increase the portion size to make extra sauce and freeze it to utilize for future recipes. This way you don't have to make it from scratch the next time you need it.
