Vanilla Porridge with Brown Sugar Apples

Ingredients

Creamy vanilla porridge with brown sugar apples

  • 1 cup Rolled oats
  • 1 ½ cups Milk
  • ½ cup Heavy cream or half and half
  • ½ Vanilla bean split and seeds scraped
  • 1 Apple peeled and cut into thin wedges
  • 1 TBSP Brown sugar
  • 1 TBSP Honey

Fruit

  • 2 cups Fresh fruit e.g. berries, grapes, or citrus, washed and prepared as needed

Coffee

  • Coffee
  • Your choice of sweetener optional
  • Your choice of creamer optional

Instructions

  • Prepare all ingredients as listed above.
  • Cook porridge. Combine oats, milk, cream, and vanilla bean with seeds in a saucepan over low medium heat. Stir often for 10 to 15 minutes until creamy and thick. Add a splash of milk if it thickens too much.
  • Brew and prepare the coffee to your liking.
  • Make brown sugar apples. In a separate saucepan, cook apple wedges with brown sugar and honey over medium heat. Stir occasionally for about 10 minutes until tender and glossy.
  • Serve. Spoon porridge into bowls, top with the brown sugar apples, add fresh fruit on the side, and serve with warm coffee prepared to your taste. Enjoy your comforting Friday breakfast.
