Tempura Avocado

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp Baking powder
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Avocado pitted and quartered lenghtwise

Instructions

  • Heat the oil to 325 degrees in a saucepan or pot.
  • In a bowl mix together the cornstarch, flour, and baking powder. Season with salt and pepper. Mix in the egg. Add a tablespoon of water at a time until a thick batter forms.
  • Gently dip the avocado quarters into the batter then fry in the oil until golden brown on all sides. Remove to paper towels and season with salt right away.
  • Serve right away, cut in half lengthwise if desired.
