Ingredients

  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Red onion chopped small
  • 2 tbsp Green bell pepper chopped small
  • 8 oz Ground turkey
  • 2 tbsp Ketchup
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp Yellow mustard
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp Onion powder
  • 1/4 cup Beef broth use as needed
  • 1/4 cup Cheddar cheese
  • 1 Pita bread cut in half
  • 1 cup Baby spinach
  • 1 oz Potato chips
  • 2 Pickle spears

Instructions

  • Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the oil. Saute the onion and pepper until softened. Crumble in the turkey and brown until no longer pink while breaking it up into smaller pieces. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder. Bring to a low simmer, (stir in broth as needed to thin the sauce to a creamy consistency) stirring occasionally, to develop flavor. Stir in the cheese until fully combined and melted. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Preheat the oven broiler on low. Warm the pita for 1 to 2 minutes. Place the spinach into the pocket of the pita, then spoon the turkey mixture in.
  • Serve with chips and pickles.
