Ham and Swiss Sandwich

Ingredients

Sandwiches

  • 4 slices Sourdough bread
  • 2 TBSP Mayonnaise
  • 2 TBSP Yellow mustard
  • 4 leaves Romaine lettuce
  • 4 slices Tomato
  • 6 oz Deli ham
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese

Sides

  • 1 cup Carrots peeled and cut into sticks or use baby carrots
  • 1/2 cup Hummus

Chia Fresca

  • ½ cup Lemon juice
  • 16 oz Water
  • 2 TBSP Maple syrup or honey (your choice)
  • ½ tsp Chia seeds
  • pinch Salt
  • 2 sprigs Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  • (Optional) Toast the slices of sourdough bread to your desired level of crispness.
  • Spread mayonnaise and mustard on one side of each slice of bread.
  • Layer the bread with romaine lettuce, tomato slices, deli ham, and Swiss cheese.
  • Top each sandwich with the remaining slices of bread, mayonnaise side down. Press gently, then cut each sandwich in half.
  • To prepare the chia fresca, combine all ingredients. Let sit for 5 minutes to allow the chia seeds to expand, then stir again.
  • Serve the sandwiches alongside carrots and hummus and chia fresca.
