Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Heat a large pot over medium heat. Add the ground beef and brown, crumbling it with a spatula for 4 -5 minutes. Add in the onion along with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook, stirring frequently for 3-4 minutes.
Add garlic and cook for another minute, stirring frequently.
Once the beef is cooked through, add cumin, chili powder and a splash of water.
Stir to combine and season to taste with salt and pepper. Add the cheese and stir to combine and remove from the heat.
Assemble your flautas by spreading the meat mixture in a line down the middle of each tortilla.
Roll the tortilla tightly around the filling. Stick a toothpick through the tortilla to secure it closed.
Place the flautas on a foil lined baking sheet and cook in the oven for 8 - 10 minutes or until tortillas are crispy. **Remove the toothpicks before serving** Garnish with diced tomato, chopped cilantro, and avocado crema.
