Ingredients
Meat Sauce
- 4 cloves Garlic sliced
- 1/4 cup Onion diced small
- 2 TBSP Extra-virgin olive oil
- 6 oz Ground beef
- 2 cups Whole tomatoes (canned) Crushed in a bowl with your hands (preferably San Marzano tomatoes)
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 4 oz Spaghetti or pasta of choice
- 2 TBSP Butter
- 1/4 cup Fresh basil chopped
- 4 tsp Parmesan cheese grated
Garlic Toast
- 1 TBSP Butter
- 2 slices Sourdough bread
- 2 cloves Garlic chopped
Side Salad
- 2 cups Romaine lettuce chopped
- 6 slices Cucumber
- 1 TBSP Red onion shaved
- 2 TBSP Carrots peeled and shaved
- 4 tsp Creamy Italian dressing
Beverage
- 24 oz Sparkling water cold
Instructions
- Prep the ingredients per the instructions above.
- Heat a pot on medium heat. Once hot, add the oil. Saute the garlic and onion until softened. Add the ground beef and brown well while breaking it up into smaller pieces using a spatula. Stir in the crushed tomatoes and season generously with salt and pepper. Partially cover with a lid and bring to a low simmer for about 30 - 35 minutes. While the sauce is cooking, make the pasta and prep the garlic bread and side salad.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the directions on the package.
- Finish the sauce: If the sauce is too thick add 1/4 cup of pasta water to thin it. Stir in the butter until fully combined. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Remove from the heat and stir in the basil.
- When the pasta is finished, drain well.
- Preheat the oven broiler on low.
- Prep garlic toast: Spread the butter onto the bread top with garlic, and season with salt and pepper. Place on a baking sheet.
- Place the prepared garlic bread under the broiler until golden brown.
- Assemble the salad: Arrange the salad ingredients in a bowl then dress the salad.
- Serve: Toss the pasta in the sauce and garnish with grated parmesan cheese. Enjoy with the salad, garlic toast, and sparkling water.
