Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic sliced
  • 2 tbsp Onion diced small
  • 1/4 cup Carrots diced small
  • 2 tbsp Celery diced small
  • 4 oz Ground beef
  • 3 cups Crushed tomatoes preferably San Marzano tomatoes
  • 4 oz Girelle pasta or pasta of choice
  • 2 tbsp Heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 4 tbsp Fresh basil chopped
  • 4 tsp Parmesan cheese grated
  • 2 slices Crusty bread lightly toasted, drizzled with olive oil

Instructions

  • Heat a pot on medium heat. Once hot, add the oil. Saute the garlic, onion, carrots, and celery until the onions soften. Crumble in the ground beef, brown well while breaking it up into smaller pieces. Stir in the tomatoes, season generously with salt and pepper. Partially cover with a lid and bring to a low simmer for about 30 - 35 minutes.
    **If the sauce is too thick add 1/4 cup of water to thin it out
  • Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the directions on the package. When the pasta is finished drain well.
  • Once the sauce is flavorful season to taste with salt and pepper. Stir in the cream and butter until fully combined. Remove from the heat and stir in the basil.
  • Toss the pasta in the sauce and serve. Garnish with grated parmesan cheese. Serve with crusty bread drizzled with olive oil and seasoned with salt and pepper.
