Ingredients

Burgers

  • 8 oz Ground beef Black Angus recommended
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 1 TBSP Heinz Carolina vinegar-style tangy BBQ sauce plus more for serving
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 slices Cheddar cheese
  • 2 Hamburger buns
  • 1 cup Romaine lettuce

Sides

  • 1 cup Carrots peeled and cut into sticks (or baby carrots)
  • ½ cup Hummus (store-bought or homemade)

Mango Lassi

  • cups Mango chopped (or 1 cup canned mango pulp)
  • ¾ cup Plain yogurt
  • 3 cups Almond milk
  • 2 TBSP Maple syrup (to taste)
  • ¼ tsp Ground cardamom (optional)

Instructions

  • Make the Burger Mix: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, BBQ sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until well combined.
  • Form the Patties: Divide the beef mixture and shape into even patties.
  • Cook the Patties: Heat a pan or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4–5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired temperature (see below). During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover the pan or close the grill to melt the cheese.
  • Toast the Buns: While the patties finish cooking, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a pan until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes.
  • Assemble the Burgers: Place romaine lettuce on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a cooked burger patty. Add extra BBQ sauce if desired and top with the other half of the bun.
  • Make the Mango Lassi: In a blender, combine chopped mango, yogurt, almond milk, maple syrup, and cardamom powder (if using). Blend until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more maple syrup if needed. Add a splash of almond milk or ice to thin, or more mango for a stronger flavor.
  • Serve the Meal: Serve the burgers with carrot sticks and a side of hummus, and mango lassi.
