- Your choice of sweetener
Alaskan Oatmeal
- 1 cup Old-fashioned oats
- 1 TBSP Butter
- 2 cups Water (or milk for creamier oatmeal)
- 2 TBSP Brown sugar packed
- ½ tsp Ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup Raisins
- Pinch Salt
Fried Ham
- 4 slices Ham thick-cut thick cut (about ½ inch thick)
Instructions
- For the Coffee: Brew your favorite coffee using your preferred method (drip, French press, or pour-over). You can set it aside while you prepare the rest of the dish.
- Prepare the Oatmeal: In a medium saucepan, combine the rolled oats and water (or milk for a creamier texture).
- Bring to a gentle boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer. Stir occasionally for 5 - 7 minutes until the oatmeal thickens to your desired consistency.
- Once the oatmeal has thickened, stir in the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until fully combined.
- Keep the oatmeal on low heat for another minute until the raisins are warm and the butter is melted.
- Cook the Fried Ham: Add the slices of ham to a skillet over medium heat and cook for about 2 - 3 minutes on each side, until browned and crispy on the edges. Flip the slices occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- Portion the oatmeal into bowls, serve with ham slices and coffee.
