Jerk Beef

Ingredients

  • 4 oz Sirloin steaks sliced thin
  • 2 tbsp Reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Jerk Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Lime zest
  • 4 tsp Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic sliced
  • 2 tbsp Red onion minced
  • 1/4 cup Coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup Mango diced
  • 1 Pita bread
  • 2 tbsp Fresh cilantro

Instructions

  • In a bowl mix the beef, soy sauce, jerk seasoing, and lime zest. Set aside for 25 minutes.
  • Preheat a non-stick pan over medium high heat. Once hot add half of the oil and the beef (reserve the marinade). Saute quickly to brown the beef nicely. Then remove from the pan along with any juices and set aside. Lower the heat to medium.
  • Add the remaining oil along with the garlic and onion. Saute until soft, then add in the coconut milk and beef along with any juices, mango, and the reserved marinade.
  • Bring to a simmer until the sauce thickens. Then remove from the heat.
  • Heat a nonstick pan on medium heat. Warm the pita on both sides to golden brown. Cut into wedges.
  • Serve the beef with pita. Garnish with cilantro.
