Ingredients
Hot Mulled Apple Cider
- 2 cups Apple cider
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- 2 Whole cloves
- 2 Allspice pods
- ½ Orange thinly sliced
Corn Bread
- 2 TBSP Butter melted
- ¼ cup All-purpose flour
- ¼ cup Cornmeal medium grind
- 1 TBSP Sugar
- ½ tsp Baking powder
- 1 pinch Salt
- ½ cup Milk use as needed
- Nonstick spray
Hamburger Helper
- 8 oz Ground beef
- 1 tsp Onion powder
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 2 tsp Paprika
- 2 TBSP Cornstarch
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Black pepper
- 1 cup Water
- 2 cups Milk
- 1.5 cups Elbow macaroni
- ¾ cup Cheddar cheese shredded
Instructions
- Prep the ingredients per the instructions above.
Hot Mulled Apple Cider:
- In a large saucepan, combine the apple cider, cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice berries, and orange slices. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the cider to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer gently for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Once the cider is hot and fragrant, remove it from the heat and strain it into a serving pitcher or individual mugs.
Cornbread:
- Preheat the oven to 400℉ (204℃).
- Mix and bake the cornbread: Melt the butter for the cornbread. In a large bowl measure out and add the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk to combine well. To the dry mix, add in the melted butter then measure out and add in the milk a little at a time while stirring. Stir until combined. Add more milk as needed to make a batter consistency, not too thick and not too watery.
- Lightly grease an appropriately sized oven-safe container with non-stick spray. Evenly scoop the batter into the greased container and place it in the oven. Bake for about 20 minutes.
- Check that the cornbread is done by inserting a toothpick in the center. If it comes out clean, the cornbread is done. Remove from the oven and let cool. If the toothpick has wet batter stuck to it, more cooking time is required. Cook a few minutes longer, then test again. Let cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
Hamburger Helper:
- Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and stir to break down beef into tiny pieces, browning well. Drain some of the grease. Stir in the onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
- Stir in the water, milk, and macaroni. Simmer until the pasta is tender. Refer to the instructions on the package for cooking time.
- Once tender, stir in the cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hamburger helper with cornbread and hot mulled apple cider. Enjoy!
