Ingredients

Belgian Waffles

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 TBSP Granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Milk
  • ¼ cup Unsalted butter melted
  • 1 Egg large
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • Nonstick spray

Fruit

  • 1 cup Fresh fruit (for topping such as strawberries blueberries raspberries and bananas), washed and sliced

Whipped Cream

  • ½ cup Heavy cream
  • 1 TBSP Powdered sugar
  • ¼ tsp Vanilla extract

Additional Toppings

  • ¼ cup Maple syrup (optional)

Coffee

  • Coffee
  • Your choice of creamer
  • Your choice of sweetener

Instructions

Waffle Preparation:

  • Prepare ingredients per the instructions above.
  • Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, combine milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  • Lightly grease the waffle iron with non-stick spray.
  • Pour enough batter onto the preheated waffle iron to cover the waffle grid, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Close the waffle iron and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp, typically 3-5 minutes depending on your waffle iron.
  • While the waffles are cooking, prepare the fruit by washing, slicing, and arranging it on a plate.
  • Pour the whipping cream into a small bowl and whip the cream using a hand mixer until it begins to thicken, add the confectioners sugar and vanilla extract, and continue whipping until stiff peaks form.
  • Brew and prepare the coffee to your liking.
  • Once the waffles are cooked, carefully remove them from the waffle iron and place them on serving plates.
  • Top each waffle with a generous dollop of whipped cream and arrange the prepared fruit on top. Optionally, drizzle with maple syrup for added sweetness.
  • Serve the waffles with freshly brewed coffee on the side.
